Xena, now renewed businesswoman, stop atop her Manhattan skyscraper, gazing out at the concrete jungle drinking her morning coffee , The morning sun cast a golden glow over the steel and glass towers. She sipped her coffee, its richness momentarily eclipsing the bitter taste of her morning, she tought “I’m relaxing for the day”… but in the moment her phone buzzed , shrill in the quiet. Eve, her assistant, spoke on the other end.
“Good Morning Xena…”
“Good Morning Eve…everything is good in the business?”
” Yes…but Mrs. Rothschild called from “Langley Investments”
“Gods…I was almost forget the Meeting that I have with him”
“yes At 9:00 am “
“(Almost split her Coffee when saw the clock 20 minutes till 9)….I’m late…
“(Eve giggle)…you better hurry…
“I will be there in a few…Thanks for saving my life!”
“anytime Xena.”
in the amidst of the morning chaos, Xena quickly prepares to go to her 9 a.m. meeting. She put on a black leather jacket, some office pants, some ankle boots, her dark glasses and her hair down, Xena rushed out of her sleek penthouse, the door clicking shut behind her. The morning air was crisp against her skin as she hurried to her private elevator, the hum of the descending lift blending with the persistent buzz of the city below. She glanced at her reflection in the mirrored walls, the sharp lines of her leather jacket and dark sunglasses giving her an edge that matched her commanding presence in the business world.
” Damn it!!! (she muttered under her breath, checking her watch again. 9:01 a.m)
Xena rushed out her penthouse, the door shutting behind her, the crisp morning Autumn air hastening when she get out of the elevator, the traffic in the big Apple is always crazy, this time she went walking, her office building wasn’t to far away and she thought “I can arrive faster by walking” she was walking the 5th avenue to arrived to Soho but , Without realizing it, Xena ran into a woman of average height, bright green eyes, short copper-colored hair, she was carrying a camera and a journal to write things down, although she was walking fast, she stopped to help her pick up her things.
“I’m so sorry…(without looking at her)….I didn’t…meant to…….(her voice barely heard)
As she looked up and saw that beautiful woman, who quietly smiled at her, her heart felt something, like time had stopped, then her watch alarm rang at 9:15 am, taking her out of that stopped time.
“Fuck….I’m sorry…I…I need to go!
“no worries…(checking out her camera)
Xena took off, her mind still buzzing from the encounter, but she couldn’t shake the image of those green eyes. Gabrielle, on the other hand, stood for a moment, watching Xena disappear into the crowd, a flutter of intrigue and attraction growing within her. Something about that brief collision felt like more than just a random accident, Xena’s heart raced, but not just from the speed at which she moved through the bustling streets. As she weaved past pedestrians and crossed intersections, her thoughts kept drifting back to that brief encounter—the woman’s green eyes, the softness of her smile. It lingered, nagging at her…and she thought “Why that woman seem familiar to me”… even as she finally reached her office building, She pushed the thought aside, straightened her blazer, and hurried into the meeting room. Her colleagues were already seated, eyes following her as she slipped into her spot at the head of the table.
“Apologies for the delay…I had an accident…let’s start”
Meanwhile, Gabrielle stood where Xena had left her, adjusting her camera, though her thoughts were far from the lens. There was something about that woman—something familiar yet elusive. The moment their eyes met, Gabrielle felt an unspoken connection, like she had known Xena from somewhere, or maybe in another lifetime. She chuckled to herself, shaking off the notion. “Get it together” she thought. “You’re in New York City, people bump into each other all the time”
Still, as she walked toward her next destination, a cosy café in SoHo where she planned to finish her latest photo essay, her mind kept wandering back to that brief interaction she thought “Who was that woman? And why did I feel drawn to her?”
while Gabrielle was drinking her coffee, she saw a newspaper that caught her attention, an advertisement with the headline “CyberMind Solution, looking for professional photographer to capture and optimise projects with our AI’s. if you’re interested, please send your CV at [email protected]. but the thing that she didn’t know is that the owner of CyberMind Solution was the woman that bumped into her earlier and almost broke her camera, instead of send it her CV she went there personally , she looked at her phone the address once she finish she went there. still intrigued by the woman who bumped her early, Gabrielle couldn’t shake the feeling that was something else that dragger her to that blue-eyed woman , the Office building wasn’t far from the Coffee, so she just passed through 5th avenue and passed Central park the beauty of the park let her amazed as photographer, the colors of the tree leaves was Gorgeous and marvellous, she stop for a moment to took a picture, then she continue till arrive SoHo, the skyscraper of the building was amazing there on top she read ” CyberMind Solution Corp” she thought “wow, this building is amazing”
Gabrielle stood before the CyberMind Solutions skyscraper, marveling at its sleek design. The afternoon sun danced across its glass facade, radiating innovation. She felt an inexplicable pull, as if Mrs. Hearts awaited her arrival, upon entering, Eve welcomed Gabrielle warmly.
“welcome to CyberMind Solution Corp. my name is Eve…How may I help you?
“Good morning, my name is Gabrielle Baldwin, and I come here because I saw an advise that you guys are in need of a professional photographer”
“That’s correct Miss. Baldiwin…do you have an appointment with Miss. Hearts?”
“No I don’t but….”
“let me see if she is available now, give me just a few minutes”
“sure…Eve, could I take some pictures of the lobby, is just marvellous”
“sure, feel free”
“Thank you Eve…”
While Eve talk by the phone with Mrs. Hearts, Gabrielle started took pictures of the building Arts, the building has an amazing decoration with golden for each corner, boast sleek, modern architecture in the exterior is made with glass facade, shimmering floor to ceiling glass that reflects the cityscape and the sky, in the interior high ceilings with moderns arts that reflect the delicacy and the technology, then after a few moment Eve interrupted Gabrielle’s amazed face.
“Miss Baldwin…Mrs. Hearts will be attending you, she is available for a few minutes…follow me please”
“Sure…”
“The lift will be up to the 24th floor”
“24 floor?”
“Yes miss Baldwin, Are you afraid of heights? (Asking chuckle)

“It seem that she is very important person”
“Yes she is…she is the owner of this company.
“Really?”
“Yeah…”
“That’s amazing, and I will be talk face to face with her”
“Yeah, well she is very transparent with things, she like to be clear more if it’s include job opportunities and interviews in her company”
“Understandable”
After a few minutes, Gabrielle and Eve arrived at the 24th floor where it was modern decorated, Gabrielle was amazed, at the end of the 24th floor was Miss Hearts’ office, as Eve guided Gabrielle down the hallway, she knocked on Miss Hearts’ door, while leaving Gabrielle there, Miss Hearts was looking out her glass window that looked out at the city drinking a tea.
“Miss Hearts, Miss Baldwin is here”
“Thanks Eve…”
“Always Miss Hearts…Do you need something else?”
“No it’s ok….well actually yes, if you can start with sending massages to Mister Rothschild about the AI’s analytics document, I will be appreciate it”
“Of course, not a problem”
“Thank you”
When Xena turned around, her eyes widened in surprise, seeing that the person who came for work was the same woman she ran into that almost broke her camera, there she was standing with that angel smile and green eyes as bright as the stars at night.
“Miss Hearts…Gabrielle Baldwin (give her hand to Xena)”
“(amazed shaking Gabrielle’s hands)…you?….you’re the photographer”
“And you…the woman that almost breaks my camera” (said almost inaudible)
“Serendipity?…(Xena chuckles)…nice to meet you Miss Baldwin.
“(Amazed)…nice…to meet you too Miss Hearts.
“Please sit…how small is the world, I never expected that was you”
Xena felt something strange like a connection towards that woman, something she had never experienced with anyone else, they remained silent for a while, Gabrielle looked around in surprise, but when she looked into Xena’s eyes, she felt like a connection, Xena realized it and shook her head slightly.
“(Shaking her head)…sorry, I’m a little distracted but would you like something to drink? Coffee? Tea? Water?”
“I’m good thank you…I’m bring some of my works, would you like to see it?”
“Of course, of course, let me see your works…I don’t know what is going on with me today, I’m a little distracted”
“That’s ok it’s understandable”
Xena leaned back slightly as Gabrielle pulled a small stack of photos and sketches from her bag. The sound of the parchment rustling was oddly comforting to Xena, something familiar that she couldn’t quite understand but The softness to Gabrielle’s movements that disarmed her, Gabrielle had another talent and is drawing between all the picture In the photo portfolio there was something that caught Xena’s attention more than the photo itself, it was a professional drawing of a sea with two warriors looking at the horizon, Xena frowned, and hesitated for a moment to ask.
“That’s all that I have (said Gabrielle smiling softly)”
“I can’t denied your art through the photos is amazed” (passing the pages but she stop in one)…what it this?”(showing the drawing)”
“Oh, that’s not supposed to be there, but I didn’t realise it was there”
“What is it of course if I can know”
“No a problem, is a drawing that I had been dreaming with those images, I don’t really knows what is mean, it confused me but I decides to draw.
“it’s really amazing”…(Xena’s eyes remained fixed on the drawing, captivated by its emotional depth)…”These warriors… who are they?”
(Gabrielle’s cheeks flushed)… “I’m unsure. They appeared in my dreams, repeatedly. I sketched them, hoping to understand.”
“The horizon they gaze upon – is that a sunrise or sunset?”
(Gabrielle shrugged)… “I don’t know. Maybe both. It symbolizes hope and uncertainty.”
“Your subconscious explores themes beyond reality.”
“Perhaps. My photography and drawings often blur boundaries.”
(Xena’s gaze lingered on the warriors) “Their unity, facing the unknown… it resonates.”
“Resonates with you?”
(Xena’s voice softened)…”Yes. Connection, trust… the unknown.”
The air thickened, their unspoken understanding palpable.
“Art reveals truths we can’t verbalize.”
“I’m Agreed…we can go for a coffee and talk, I appreciated your interest in my company…I don’t have the time for interview you and talk to you about the position…but give me your number, and I will call you to meet you somewhere.
“Sure…(passing a card)…here is my card, there is my phone number and my email”
“here is mine…but this one is my personal phone….”
“Your personal phone?”
“yes, I’m not supposed to do that, but I want talk to you personally, I mean like to invite you a coffee and we can talk about the job position”
“Sure…(smile softly)
“That’s all for today…”
“Alright, so I guess I will see you soon”
“Sure (sideway smile)
“Thank you Mrs. Hearts….”
“You’re welcome Miss Baldwin”
As night fell, Xena was already in her penthouse, she took a warm bath, stayed in the jacuzzi for a while, to relax, closed her eyes and suddenly had a flashback of something she couldn’t explain, She saw a woman with black hair, blue eyes, tall, she looked like a warrior, fighting in the middle of a war, with the warrior was a blonde with short hair woman, of average height, she looked into the bright green eyes and smiled… Xena opened her eyes and almost choked, her heart was racing, she didn’t know or understand what was happening. Xena’s penthouse grew silent once more, but her mind raced. The flashback lingered, vivid and unsettling. She rose from the jacuzzi, wrapping herself in a plush robe. Pacing before the floor-to-ceiling windows, Xena struggled to comprehend the vision. The warrior’s piercing blue eyes and raven hair mirrored her own features. But the blonde girl, with bright green eyes, was similar to Gabrielle.
Their shared gaze in the vision sent shivers down Xena’s spine, she didn’t understand what all those “Flashback means” she was so confused, she was lay down in her bed, she was trying to take off those flashback try to not think on it she thought for herself “Maybe they are just because I saw that drawing from her”
Meanwhile, Gabrielle, already settled in her apartment, takes out Xena’s personal phone, lies down on her bed, and thinks “How strange, what I felt with Mrs. Hearts, was something different, I have no words to explain it, and why did she give me her personal number having cards from her business, it’s as if I had known her for a long time or in another life”
As Xena lay down, she couldn’t shake the strange feeling that gnawed at her. The vision haunted her, refusing to fade. It wasn’t the first time she had felt this deep, inexplicable connection to something—or someone—far beyond her grasp. The warmth of the bath lingered on her skin, but her mind was cold, unsettled. She sighed, curling under the satin sheets, willing herself to sleep.
But rest didn’t come easily.
Gabrielle, on the other side of town, was equally restless. She twirled Xena’s personal phone in her hands, staring at the number as if it held answers. Her thoughts kept circling back to Mrs. Hearts—the enigmatic, powerful woman who had stirred something within her. Something familiar yet distant, like a forgotten memory. Gabrielle’s heart raced at the thought. Why had she been given Xena’s personal number? Was it a business formality, or did it mean something more? Meanwhile, Xena had given up on sleep altogether. She sat up in bed, the cool sheets clinging to her legs, and rubbed her temples. She couldn’t shake the image of the warrior and the blonde woman. “Why did the flashback feel so real?” she thought…It was like a memory, but not hers—or was it? It was too vivid to ignore, yet impossible to explain. The silence of her penthouse only made her feel more restless. She grabbed her phone from the nightstand, scrolling through messages and emails, trying to distract herself. But nothing held her attention for long. Her eyes drifted to Gabrielle’s number, saved under “Gabrielle – New Contact.” She had given her personal number without much thought, but now it seemed like a strange decision, she decide to send a text message to Gabrielle at midnight.
“Hey Gabrielle, couldn’t sleep. Just wanted to see if everything’s okay on your end?
She hesitated for a moment, then hit send…Back in her apartment, Gabrielle’s phone buzzed again, breaking the quiet. She groaned, grabbing it with sleepy eyes, expecting another pointless notification. But when she saw the message was from Xena, her breath caught in her throat, and said in low voice.
“Mrs. Hearts?” (Gabrielle whispered in the dark, sitting up in bed. Her heart raced as she read the message)
She blinked a few times, rereading it, unsure how to respond she though “Why is Xena messaging me this late?… And why did it make me feel both anxious and strangely excited?”…Her thumbs hovered over the screen before she typed back.
“I’m okay. Couldn’t sleep either. It’s been…a strange day”
Xena Answered then massager.
“Same here. It’s like I’ve been trying to shake off a weird feeling all night.”
Gabrielle’s heart skipped a beat. She wasn’t alone in this. The connection she felt earlier—Xena felt it too. She started typing, her curiosity getting the best of her.
“It’s hard to explain, but… I felt it too. Like we’ve… met before?”
Xena, reading Gabrielle’s response, felt a chill run through her. She stared at the words on her screen, her mind flashing back to the strange vision again—the warrior, the blonde, the battle. Could it be possible that Gabrielle had seen the same thing? She typed back quickly, her pulse quickening.
“Have you ever had dreams, or memories… that aren’t yours? Something that feels like it belongs to another life?”
Gabrielle froze as she read Xena’s question. Her mind raced back to the dreams she had been having for months—dreams of a battlefield, of a tall woman with dark hair fighting beside her, of a bond so strong, it transcended lifetimes.
Her fingers trembled as she typed.
“Yes. I thought I was going crazy.”
Xena Answered back…..
“O.o?…..I didn’t believe on reincarnation or stuff like that but…but this feels different…I think we need to talk, Could you meet me tomorrow?”
Gabrielle read the message, her breath catching in her throat. She didn’t know what this was—whether it was fate, destiny, or just some wild coincidence—but she knew she had to follow
“/x…Sure…Where?…I’m not know about NYC a lot…I just came from Brooklyn”
“We can meet at Central park, we can ate something I don’t know and then walk a little bit”
“what time?”
“Around 8 o clock that’s ok for you or it’s too early?”
“8 o’clock it’s ok for me”
“We can ate breakfast in somewhere around here”
“Sure…then tomorrow will be”
“And don’t worry about paid anything I invite you alright?”
“Alright”
“see you tomorrow”
“See you Mrs. Hearts”
That night Xena couldn’t sleep at all, she tossed and turned in bed, she stopped at her mini bar, and poured herself a glass of wine, but without realizing it she drank the whole bottle, got a little drunk and fell asleep, on the other hand Gabrielle had already fallen asleep peacefully although her thoughts were going towards Xena Hearts, there was something that made her drag herself to that beautiful blue-eyed woman, only she didn’t know what it was, but she felt a strong attraction towards Mrs. Hearts…As Gabrielle drifted off the morning arrived sooner than expected, the pale light filtering through the curtains nudging Gabrielle awake. She stretched, still feeling the lingering warmth of the dream. A nervous flutter danced in her stomach as she recalled her plans for the day. What would they talk about? Would she even be able to handle that magnetic presence in person?…Meanwhile, Xena woke with a groggy head, the remnants of the wine still fogging her thoughts. She glanced at the clock and jumped out of bed, a wave of panic washing over her. She had planned to impress Gabrielle but wasn’t sure if her slightly hungover state would do the trick. After a quick shower and a strong mug of coffee, Xena donned her favorite leather jacket and dark sunglasses, hoping it would give her the confidence she needed.
Arriving at the designated meeting spot, she caught sight of Xena from a distance. Tall and commanding, with an effortless grace, Xena was scanning the crowd, searching for Gabrielle. Her heart melted at the sight. There was something so alive about the way Xena moved, as though she was part of the very rhythm of the city itself but Xena had a headache from last night’s hangover, didn’t feel well at all but she must continue.
‘morning Mrs. Hearts”
‘Morning Gabrielle (Clearing her throat)…Please just call me Xena, I don’t like that Mrs…It’s just a title because of my company, but I don’t like being called ‘ma’am.’ I know I’m already 56, but I feel young. I think that’s what’s important”
“Yes you’re right…are you ok today?”
“Yes, well not much, I’m a little unwell…when I eating something and a strong coffee I’ll be better…breakfast?”
“sure…”
Xena’s smile faltered for a moment, her hangover evident. Gabrielle’s concern touched her, Xena led them to a nearby café, its cozy atmosphere welcoming. They slid into a booth, surrounded by the gentle hum of conversation.
“Let’s get that coffee and breakfast,” (Gabrielle suggested, nodding)
“I want a strong black coffee please and….What do you want Gabrielle?”
“just a black tea for me”
“A black coffee for me and a black tea for her…
“anything else madam”
“for me a croissant egg, bacon and cheese sandwich” (said Xena)…Gabrielle what you want to eat?
“just a croissant toasted with butter”
“Are you sure?” (said Xena amazed)
‘yes…I’m not a morning eater ” (said Gabrielle smiling softly)
“alright then”
“Rough Night?” (said Gabrielle, sitting in the coffee table)
“kind of” (says Xena)
“What’s going on?”
“I don’t know…never feeling that way before (says Xena, rubbing her temple)…I guess is the stress…I ended up the night drinking a whole bottle of wine.”
“I can see…you will be ok once you eat”
“I really hope so” (said Xena some worried)…”Gabrielle, I want to talk to you about something very important.”
“About work?”
“No, just about work… look… I don’t know what’s been happening to me since the day we bumped into each other on the street, I’ve felt strange.”
“What do you mean?”
“it’s something can’t be explain…”
“Like a connection?”
“yes…something like that”
“Do you believe in reincarnation Xena?, destiny?…Fate?”
“No, that’s bullshit”
(Gabrielle raised an eyebrow, intrigued)… “Really? You think all that talk about destiny is just nonsense?”
“I’ve fought for my life too many times to believe in something as abstract as fate,” (Xena replied, a hint of defiance in her voice) “I’ve always believed we make our own choices.
“so…what drag you here then?… what if the choices we make are guided by something greater? Maybe we keep bumping into each other in this lifetime for a reason.?”
“I don’t know…what I do know is that something feels different with you. I can’t shake this feeling that our paths were meant to cross”
“I think it’s okay to feel whatever it is you’re feeling.” (She thought for a moment before adding)…You know, I’ve read stories about souls finding each other through lifetimes, helping each other, sometimes even saving each other. It’s like a tapestry of moments that lead to this… whatever this is.
The waitress approached with their food, breaking the moment. Xena quickly pulled her hand back, almost embarrassed by her vulnerability. The waitress placed the coffee, tea, and croissants on the table, followed by Xena’s hearty sandwich.
“ma’am (said the waitress)”
“Thank you (avoiding Gabrielle’s eyes)”
They ate in a comfortable silence for a few minutes, the café’s soft buzz of chatter and clinking dishes filling the space. Xena took a bite of her sandwich, and as the food settled in her stomach, the hangover began to ease.
“I don’t remember the last time I talked to someone like this…I mean… really talked”
“Well, you’ve always been more action than words.”
“how you know this about me?”
“I just know…just come to my mind”
As they finished their breakfast, Xena felt a sense of peace that she hadn’t experienced in a long time. Perhaps Gabrielle was right. Perhaps their paths had crossed for a reason—whether it was fate, destiny, or something else entirely, The afternoon had passed quickly, Xena was talking to Gabrielle about the job position, which she accepted, As they strolled through Central Park, the vibrant autumn foliage surrounded them, the crunch of leaves beneath their feet filling the air with a soothing melody. Xena felt a sense of normalcy wash over her, a feeling she hadn’t experienced in a long time. Gabrielle’s easy-going nature and genuine interest in her life had chipped away at Xena’s defences, allowing her to open up in ways she never thought possible.
“I have to say, I’m surprised you accepted the job offer…(said Xena)
“Well…I will need the job because, I am moving from Brooklyn to NYC and here the cost of life is more expensive”
“Yes…tell me something Gabrielle, do you already saw a place where to stay?”
“I was looking something economic but didn’t find any yet”
“my company can pay for your apartment…you don’t need to pay anything’
“How do you think!!… It’s a lot, you’re already doing a lot by giving me the job.
“Gabrielle, my company can do that and more, please accept the offer, come on let’s go to my suite, I can get you an apartment,”
“But Xena…”
“Come on please…(insisting)”
“Well, okay…but with one condition”
“What condition?”
“That you let me pay you”
“No…how do you think?…Gabrielle, don’t worry, my company is the one that pays, it’s not me”
” but you’re the owner right”
“yeah I am the owner…but I have a bank that do all those process”
“still……(stubborn)
Xena couldn’t help but laugh at Gabrielle’s stubborn insistence, and for the first time in a long time, she found herself genuinely smiling, feeling a warmth she hadn’t realized she’d missed.
“Alright, Gabrielle,” (Xena said, shaking her head with a chuckle)…”we’ll work something out. Maybe you can treat me to coffee occasionally as repayment.”
(Gabrielle grinned, a twinkle in her eye) “Deal. But fair warning, I take coffee commitments very seriously.”
As they reached Xena’s suite, a luxurious apartment with a stunning view of the city skyline, Gabrielle looked around in awe. She could barely believe that she was here, standing in the suite of a woman she’d only met days ago. The world had seemed overwhelming when she first arrived in New York, but now, with Xena’s support and kindness, it felt less intimidating, even hopeful.
“welcome Gabrielle…this is my suit”
“wow…I never imagined New York could look so beautiful.”
“It has its charm,” Xena agreed softly. “It can be harsh, but when you’re with the right people, it can also be… magical.”
There was a long pause, and for a moment, neither of them spoke, letting the peaceful ambiance settle around them…Breaking the silence, Xena cleared her throat.
“Alright…so let’s look at a few apartment options for you. I’ll make sure we find something comfortable—and close to work. No commute hassles.”
“”Are you sure? I don’t want to be a burden. You’ve already done so much.”
“”Gabrielle, trust me, this is the least I can do. And besides…(Xena’s voice softened, almost wistful) “Helping you helps me, too. Sometimes, having someone around is what we need to feel grounded.”
Their eyes met, and Gabrielle sensed a deep sincerity in Xena’s words. Whatever walls Xena had built to guard herself, Gabrielle could feel them cracking, if only just a little. They spent the next hour scrolling through listings, laughing and debating over apartment layouts and neighborhoods. Gabrielle found herself more relaxed than she’d been in weeks, her initial nervousness replaced by a growing trust in Xena’s guidance. By the end of their search, they’d narrowed it down to two apartments—both modest but warm, nestled within vibrant neighbourhoods full of character.
“Alright…(Xena said, leaning back with a satisfied smile.) Looks like we have some good options here. I’ll have my team finalize the lease on whichever one you prefer.”
Gabrielle was silent for a moment, still taking it all in. She couldn’t quite believe her luck—just days ago, she’d been considering giving up on her dream to make it in New York, and now here she was, on the verge of starting a new job, with a place to live in the heart of the city.
“Xena….I really appreciated what are you doing for me…I don’t know how I’ll ever repay you for all of this”
“(Xena brushed her thanks away with a wave of her hand, a faint blush coloring her cheeks)…Like I said, just make sure you bring that coffee.”
They both laughed, and for a moment, everything felt blissfully simple. As the night stretched on, their conversation shifted from apartments and logistics to their dreams and pasts, each word bringing them closer. Gabrielle spoke about her aspirations, her small-town life back in Brooklyn, and the struggles she faced to get here. Xena listened intently, sharing stories of her own journey—the choices, sacrifices, and battles that had shaped her into the person she was today. hours passed unnoticed, and before they knew it, the city had quieted, a calm stillness settling over the cityscape below them. Finally, Gabrielle glanced at the clock, surprised at how late it had gotten
“Oh, I didn’t mean to stay this long. I should probably head back”
“no wait…(grabbing Gabrielle’s arm)…stay here tonight…It’s late, and… well, it’s safer. Plus, I have extra blankets, make yourself home.
Gabrielle was about to protest but, seeing the earnestness in Xena’s eyes, she nodded, feeling a wave of gratitude and comfort settle over her. As Gabrielle settled in for the night, she felt a sense of calm she hadn’t known she needed. New York was no longer just a city of tall buildings and daunting possibilities—it was becoming a place of connections, of friendship, and perhaps, of a future filled with new adventures. She couldn’t quite explain it, but she knew that meeting Xena was the beginning of something profound.
Morning came quickly, it was Saturday morning, Gabrielle will start work on Monday but Xena had to go to the office to finish some things, she got up around 7 am, she was making coffee… she went to the room where Gabrielle was still sleeping, she stood for a few minutes at the door… and suddenly a memory or a flashback of something came to her mind, she closed her eyes and frowned, she felt like she was going to faint, she leaned against the wall for support, she opened her eyes and took a deep breath confused, when she was able to put herself together, she sat on the couch a little blushed… Gabrielle felt something and woke up, she went straight to the living room where Xena was.
“Xena?”…
“I’m, sorry Gabrielle, did I wake you up?”
“No… are you okay?”
“Yes… (somewhat thoughtful)… Yes, I’m fine, my head hurts a little, that’s all… Gabrielle, I have to get to the office, do you want to come with me so you can meet the group?
“Sure, I’d love to.”
“So, we’ll have breakfast and leave, does that sound okay?”
“Sure, whatever you want Xena.”
Gabrielle took a seat beside Xena on the couch, her eyes searching Xena’s face, noticing the faint traces of discomfort.
“Are you sure you’re ok?”
“yeah…is just a memory I guess…Im fine Gabrielle.”
“If anything’s bothering you, you know I’m here, right?…you can talk to me, im good listening”
“(Xena gave her a grateful look and patted Gabrielle’s hand) I know. Thank you.”
After a few minutes, they moved to the kitchen, where Xena brewed another pot of coffee. They sat together, the early morning light spilling through the window, bringing a quiet warmth that filled the room.
“so…what’s like at the office?…(Gabrielle asked as she spread jam over her toast, trying to lighten the mood)
“(Xena chuckled, finally relaxing a little.)…Well, it’s never quiet, that’s for sure. My team… they’re good, but let’s just say they have unique personalities. I think you’ll get along with them.”
“Oh, unique personalities? Now I’m curious” (Gabrielle chuckled)
The tension slowly dissolved as they talked, both enjoying the ease that settled between them. By the time breakfast was over, Xena felt more grounded, and they got ready to leave.
they stepped outside the crisp morning air a refreshing contrast to the warmth of the kitchen. Gabrielle pulled her jacket closer, glancing up at Xena with a playful smile, Gabrielle knew there was something about Xena that was familiar, but she didn’t understand what it was, but that connection they feel for each other was something out of the ordinary, Xena could have driven to the office, but she decided to walk to show Gabrielle what the city was like, upon arriving at the office, Xena introduced Gabrielle to the work group, everyone gave her a warm welcome, she smiled a little shyly, Xena’s eyes met Gabrielle’s, she sensed that Gabrielle was a little nervous, she grabbed her hand and squeezed it.
“Everything’s going to be okay (squeezing Gabrielle’s hand)”
As Xena’s warm reassurance washed over her, Gabrielle felt a little of the tension in her shoulders release. She looked at Xena, her eyes softening as a small, grateful smile appeared. Xena was not only a new friend but also an unexpected source of strength, someone she felt she could trust instinctively, even though she’d just arrived in the city. Something about Xena felt like home. The workday unfolded quickly. Xena led Gabrielle through the day’s projects, introducing her to clients and sharing insights about each of them, her voice steady and her presence commanding respect. Gabrielle watched in admiration, sensing the underlying kindness in Xena’s interactions. She realized Xena was not only well-respected but also genuinely cared about her colleagues and clients alike. At lunchtime, Xena suggested they step out. The city’s sounds and sights were both foreign and exhilarating to Gabrielle, who glanced around, trying to absorb it all. They found a small café with a warm ambiance, and as they settled in with steaming cups of coffee, Gabrielle couldn’t hold back her curiosity anymore.
“So… how did you end up here, Xena?…I mean, you seem like you could be doing anything, anywhere. (searching for Xena’s face)
“(Xena laughed softly, a sound that resonated with unexpected vulnerability)… Oh, it wasn’t exactly a straightforward path, I grew up in a small town, and I think, back then, I was always running—either toward something or away from it. But this city gave me a chance to slow down. Build something real.”
“I feel like I’m doing the opposite, running toward something, though I’m not quite sure what.”
“Maybe that’s why we get along so well…You remind me of someone who sees the world with a fresh perspective. It’s rare.”
“Rare?…Why rare?”
“because I don’t know who its that person…I only have memories, memories that I didn’t know existed… I don’t know where they are from, I don’t know if they are mine either… but when I’m with you I feel like I’ve known you for a long time”
“Oh, it’s strange…the same thing happens to me…I feel like I’ve known you for a long time…I didn’t know you felt the same, that’s why I hadn’t said anything”
The silence that settled between them was thick with unspoken words, each of them lost in thought. Gabrielle’s heart raced as she took in Xena’s words, feeling both a thrill of connection and a pang of curiosity. Why did it feel so right—so familiar? She wasn’t one to lean so quickly into new friendships, yet here she was, feeling more at ease with Xena than she had with anyone in years…Xena’s gaze softened as she studied Gabrielle, her eyes holding a glimmer of something deeper, something that even she seemed to be trying to unravel.
“It’s strange, isn’t it?” (Xena murmured, tracing the edge of her coffee cup)…How you can feel like you’re meeting someone for the first time, yet… there’s this sense of recognition, like a puzzle piece snapping into place.”
“Exactly. It’s like I’ve been waiting for… this. For you. For someone who sees me, really sees me.” (She laughed, glancing down at her hands)…Sorry if that sounds intense.”
“It’s not intense really…I think I’ve been feeling the same way, even if I didn’t quite know it.”
Gabrielle glanced up, her eyes meeting Xena’s. In that shared gaze, there was something more than simple curiosity; it was as if both were catching glimpses of long-forgotten memories, brushing against the edges of their consciousness. She wanted to say something—anything—that could capture this indescribable bond, but words felt inadequate. Instead, she took a deep breath, hoping the silence would speak for them. Xena’s lips curled into a gentle smile, and she reached across the table, her fingers brushing Gabrielle’s hand in a subtle, tentative gesture. The warmth of Xena’s touch sent a shiver through Gabrielle. She was surprised by her own reaction, yet she didn’t pull away.
“There’s this… pull…like I’m being drawn to you by something I can’t quite explain.” (said Xena somehow confused)
“I know what you mean. It’s like there’s a history between us like something deeper right?
“exactly…”
“Xena, you say you don’t believe in reincarnation, or in fate…but what we’re feeling is something deep, something we know is deep down there, but we don’t know what it is…maybe we’re destined to find out together.
” I don’t….but This feels just different… you know Many years ago something happened to me that I promised myself not to believe in fate or reincarnation…but what I’m feeling makes me doubt.
“Can I know what’ it is?
“I don’t want to talk about it…it’s painful…I promised myself I would block it, so I did… and I don’t want to unblock it not now…but who knows if later I’ll feel more prepared to tell you”
“if it’s painful, you don’t have too…it’s ok”
“Thank you for your understanding Gabrielle, it’s mean a lot to me”
Gabrielle held Xena’s gaze, the compassion in her eyes giving Xena a sense of comfort she hadn’t felt in a long time. There was a softness, an acceptance, in Gabrielle’s face that stirred something in Xena—something long buried and nearly forgotten. She felt a pull to trust, to open up, but the thought of revisiting old wounds made her hesitate. Gabrielle noticed the faint shadow that crossed Xena’s expression, a fleeting glimpse of sorrow. She wanted to reassure her, to let her know she wasn’t alone. Slowly, she entwined her fingers with Xena’s, offering silent support. Xena sighed, her voice softer now, almost vulnerable
“You know… there’s something about you that just… feels familiar. It’s like you see me, really see me, and somehow, that makes me want to trust you. But that scares me too.”
“Sometimes, the past can hurt so much that we don’t want to look at it. But if you ever want to talk about it—whenever you’re ready—I’ll be here.”
“(Xena swallowed, feeling the knot of memories lodged in her throat. She forced a smile, though it was tinged with sadness) Thank you, Gabrielle. That means… more than you know….”
“Always Xena”
“So, I have a good news….”
“What it is?”
“I already have your condo ready…it will be in the same building where I live…you will only be on the ninth floor”
“Did you?”
“yes”
“but Xena it’s too much”
“Gabrielle don’t worry about it…I already told you my company is pay for”
They fell into a comfortable silence, both letting the weight of the moment settle. Outside, the soft glow of the evening cityscape filtered in through the large windows, casting a warm light over them. The world outside seemed distant, as if it were only them, hidden away in this quiet corner, Gabrielle looked out at the city lights, her voice softer now.
“You know, I didn’t expect to end up here. I mean, moving to a new city, taking a leap of faith—it wasn’t exactly in my plans. But somehow, it feels right.”
“Sometimes life takes you down a different road than you expected. You just… follow the signs, trust your instincts. (Xena Paused)…I think it’s brave, actually. Leaving behind the familiar.”
“Maybe. But sometimes, I think it’s not about bravery. Sometimes, it’s just knowing that there’s something, or someone worth following.”
“I used to think that opening up, letting someone in… it was a weakness. A liability. I’ve always handled things alone.”
“Being strong doesn’t mean being alone, Xena. Sometimes, letting people in shows more strength than pushing them away.”
“you have this way to seem things so simple”
“Maybe it’s simple, but Just complicated by all the things we carry on”
“maybe you’re right”
As evening settled around 6 pm, casting a warm, amber glow over the cityscape, Xena took Gabrielle up to the suite that the company had arranged for her. It was conveniently located in the same building as Xena’s—a request Xena had made herself, a rare, uncharacteristic move that she couldn’t quite explain. There was something about Gabrielle that stirred her; a sense of connection that defied her usual self-imposed distance. Normally, Xena took pride in her independence, in the carefully built walls that separated her personal life from anyone else’s. But Gabrielle… Gabrielle had bypassed those walls without even trying, and it was both exhilarating and unsettling. They reached the door, and Xena, after unlocking it, gestured for Gabrielle to enter first. The moment Gabrielle stepped inside, her eyes widened in surprise. The suite was immaculate. Tasteful decorations adorned the walls and shelves, the color palette a warm blend of earth tones with hints of soft greens, creating a serene atmosphere. Artfully placed plants and vases filled with delicate wildflowers hinted at Xena’s subtle touches, showing a sensitivity Gabrielle hadn’t expected. She could tell that Xena had given thought to every element here, and it made her feel… seen. Gabrielle stepped farther in, taking in the comfortable, inviting arrangement of the furniture. A cosy sofa with a plush throw lay in front of a wide glass window that provided a sweeping view of the city’s skyline, now bathed in twilight. Her gaze then fell on a small stack of books on the coffee table—epics, myths, and poetry, titles she had once mentioned in passing to Xena over a rushed coffee break. Her heart swelled with gratitude and awe.
“You did all this?” (Search for Xena’s eyes)
“(Xena shrugged, her usual nonchalant air intact, though she avoided direct eye contact)…Didn’t take much…Just thought you’d like a place that felt… comfortable. And like your own”
“You remembered,” (she said quietly, smiling as she met Xena’s gaze)
For a moment, there was a silence between them that held an unspoken understanding, a connection that felt as solid as the walls surrounding them. Xena felt a strange warmth at the centre of her chest—a quiet happiness she hadn’t experienced in years, if ever.
“well…you should be able to relax here.”
Gabrielle walked over to the large window, her eyes drinking in the dazzling view of the city as the lights began to flicker on, one by one, like stars anchoring the skyline. The sight filled her with a quiet thrill—this was a new beginning, and Xena had somehow made it feel like something beyond a mere work arrangement…Xena shifted uncomfortably behind her, watching Gabrielle with a mix of pride and apprehension. She wasn’t used to this—seeing someone so deeply appreciative of the effort she’d put into something. Normally, she didn’t go out of her way for others; she didn’t see the point. But Gabrielle, with her openness and unassuming warmth, had drawn something different out of her, something Xena couldn’t quite put into words.
“So..What do you think?…The place is up to your standards?”
“Standards? Xena, this is beyond anything I could have expected. I mean, look at this…It’s like you designed it just for me.”
“Maybe I did…(blushing with low voice barely heard)”
“Well, I’m grateful…Really, Xena. I don’t know anyone who would go to all this trouble.”
Xena exhaled, a faint smile tugging at her lips. She didn’t need words to say it, but Gabrielle could sense she felt something too, a connection that had woven itself into their lives in quiet, imperceptible ways.
“Enough of sentimental stuff….There’s food in the kitchen, and I stocked up on coffee. You know, in case you need it for the long hours ahead.”
“Let me guess—another late night in the office?”
“Something like that… Work never stops, you know. But…I thought you might want to take it easy tonight. Settle in, get a feel for the place. It’s yours, after all.”
Gabrielle took a deep breath, savouring the generosity beneath Xena’s gruff exterior. She knew that this was as close as Xena would come to inviting her to relax, to enjoy her own space, a place Xena had subtly claimed as a shared connection between them.
“I’ll do that…Thank you, Xena. For everything.”
“(With a small, barely perceptible nod, Xena made her way to the door)…I’ll leave you to it then.”
She lingered for a moment longer than necessary, as if there were something else she wanted to say but couldn’t quite bring herself to say it. Gabrielle watched her, waiting, sensing the unspoken words hovering between them. But Xena simply gave her a final nod and disappeared into the hallway, leaving Gabrielle alone in the suite. The silence in the room felt warm, almost comforting, and Gabrielle took another look around, feeling as if the space already knew her, already held pieces of who she was. It was rare to find a place that felt so naturally hers—rare, but then again, so was meeting someone like Xena.
But that night while Xena was sleeping, a flashback came to her, a memory, that she is not sure if it is hers, where she saw a woman who looked like a warrior, tall black hair, blue eyes, fighting against gods and landlords and on her right side was that blonde woman, of average height, also fighting… at that moment Xena woke up all sweaty, with forced breathing, confused, she looked at the clock and it was 4 am, she quickly got out of bed, went to the bathroom, looked in the mirror and thought to herself. “What is happening to me? … Who is that warrior woman that appears to me in dreams or are they memories? …Xena stared at her reflection, her face pale under the dim bathroom light, the remnants of her dream flickering like a ghostly memory behind her eyes. The woman in her vision—the warrior with the dark hair and steely gaze—had seemed so familiar, so visceral, as if she’d leapt straight out of her subconscious. And the blonde beside her, that sense of loyalty and kinship between them—it felt like a part of her, something she couldn’t quite shake, as though their lives were bound together in ways that went beyond dreams.
“What are you trying to tell me?” she whispered to herself, leaning closer to the mirror, as if her own eyes might reveal something hidden beneath. Her pulse still pounded from the dream. She had felt the weight of a sword in her hand, the rush of wind as she swung it, the force of her muscles straining against god-like enemies. And there was this blonde woman, here in the heat of battle by her side similar to the connection that she felt with Gabrielle. It didn’t make any sense, and yet her heart beat wildly, a familiar ache tugging at her, like a song she had forgotten but couldn’t stop hearing…She splashed cold water on her face, the chill shocking her back to the present, to the quiet room and the life she knew. She dried her face with a towel and glanced at the clock. Only a few hours left before morning.
As dawn broke, Xena found herself on the balcony, breathing in the cool morning air, her gaze wandering to the horizon where the first light spilled across the city. Just as she was starting to lose herself in the quiet of the morning, a soft knock sounded on the door. She crossed the room to open it, and there was Gabrielle, a warm smile lighting her face, her eyes still soft with sleep, with two coffee on hands.
“(Xena opening the door)…morning?…..”
“May I?”
“Of course, come in”
“I brought you coffee…I thought you may want”.
“Thank you…(rubbing her temples)”
“Are you ok Xena?”
“Yeah…just a hectic night”
“You didn’t get much rest, did you?”
“Not really…but don’t worry…I will be ok in a bit…”
“rough night?…you can talk to me Xena”
“Gabrielle, I know this will sound a little crazy but… have you ever had a dream that felt so real…you weren’t sure it was a dream?”
“I think I know what you mean. The kind that sticks with you, almost like…a memory?”
“something like that….”
“Yes it happened to me a lot…but, what did you dream?”
“There’s this…woman…warrior. She’s fierce, unyielding, and somehow I know her. It’s like I can feel the weight of her sword, the fight in her muscles, her purpose… And there’s someone beside her, someone…who feels like…..”
“like?”
“someone I know…..it doesn’t make any sense for me”
“(Gabrielle’s eyes sparkled with intrigue, her voice barely above a whisper)…Someone you know?
“This woman is similar like you…Standing beside this warrior, with a look of determination, of loyalty… It felt real, like I’d lived it.”
“What happened in the dream?”
“They were fighting side by side, their swords clashing with enemies. The warrior, she was… fierce, protective. And the other woman was her rock, her anchor”
“that’s strange…I think I know that dream (furrowed)”
“(Xena’s brow furrowed)…You Do?”
“I’ve had similar dreams. both of them Fighting together, side by side. It’s like… you and me like if our souls remember something our minds don’t….
“coincidence?”
“Xena…I know you don’t believe is those stuff but maybe… it’s the universe reminding us of something deeper.”
Xena took a moment, her mind swirling with the implications of Gabrielle’s words. Could there be something more to these dreams? The idea that they might be tapping into a shared past, a connection that transcended time, was both thrilling and unnerving.
“Gabrielle, you know I’ve always been sceptical about these things…But… what if there is something to it? What if we’re destined to remember something important?”
“It’s possible. Maybe these dreams are a way for us to connect with who we were. It could be warning us, or guiding us towards something we need to face.”
“Enough from that…(somehow irritated)….I have work to do, I need to be ready instead of losing time with those nonsense”
“But Xena…You just told me what’s happening to you….”
Xena’s eyes flickered with a flash of frustration, and she shook her head as though shaking off an unwanted feeling, Gabrielle took a deep breath, trying to keep her voice calm. She knew Xena’s skepticism, her tendency to brush off anything she couldn’t confront with her strategy. But this felt different. She felt it deep in her bones.
“I know what I said, Gabrielle…But dreams are just that—dreams. I don’t have time to sit around and pick them apart. Not when there are real threats out there.”
“But Xena, what if these dreams are a warning?…What if ignoring them puts us at risk?…Why is it so hard to believe in this?”
Xena met Gabrielle’s gaze, her expression softening just a bit. She saw the worry in Gabrielle’s eyes, the weight of her concern. A flicker of doubt crossed Xena’s mind, but she pushed it away, burying it beneath the familiar mask of resolve.
“Because dreams are shadows, Gabrielle. They come and go. They twist memories, stir up old fears, and bring nothing but confusion…I need to be sharp, focused. I can’t afford to be distracted….I own a company, to which I need to give my 100%”
“Xena, I understand you’re busy. The company needs you; I get it. But this is bigger than deadlines and deals. I can feel it, and I know you can, too. Haven’t you noticed how restless you’ve been? How these dreams keep pulling at you, night after night?”
“Restless nights come with the territory. You know that. This…(she motioned dismissively)…it’s just stress, that’s all.”
But deep down Xena knew that those weren’t just dreams, but flashbacks of a memory that she didn’t know if they were hers, it was all so confusing but so real, she got ready, put on her long jacket, her beret, her dark glasses and went out to her composition, while Gabrielle had stayed in her suite apartment since she started work on Monday…without realizing it Gabrielle fell asleep on her couch and suddenly a flashback or memory came.
Flashback…..
Two young women were dancing through the night in Greece, the tall woman with black hair, blue eyes like the sky dressed in leather, were talking about something, at one point Gabrielle cupped the warrior’s face, looked deeply into her eyes and said “Your eyes are my light, every time I look at them I feel alive, every time I felt sad and depressed, looking at them gave me back my strength… to find a ray of hope again” The warrior, her fierce expression softening under Gabrielle’s gentle touch, looked at her in surprise. For all the battles she had faced, all the enemies she had conquered, no words had ever struck her so deeply. She swallowed, her blue eyes reflecting the shimmer of the sea under the moonlight, they were about to kiss….
end of flashlight
but then just then Gabrielle wakes up Confused, she didn’t know what that dream meant, she stayed awake looking at the ceiling of the suite, she breathed deeply trying to decipher that dream, she felt a pain in her stomach… went to the bathroom, washed her face with warm water, she looked at the clock and it was 3 PM, she looked at her cell phone and had a missed call from Xena…she decided to call her back.
“(Xena in the other line)…Gabrielle…”
“Xena, I just saw your missing call…I wasn’t feeling well so I just drift off”
“What’s going on?”
“I just….have another that seem flashbacks or memories…”
“What was about?”
“It was us but not us…I was copped the warrior face and she is similar to you”
“huh?…..this doesn’t make any sense…it’s hard to believe…..”
“but suddenly my stomach hurts make me wake up….maybe something I ate”
“it’s ok Gabrielle…I will be there soon”
As they hung up, Gabrielle’s mind whirled with questions. Warrior faces, past lives, and unsettling stomach pains. After a few minutes Xena had arrived at Gabrielle’s suite, The doorbell rang, snapping Gabrielle back to reality. She opened the door to find Xena, concern etched on her face.
“hey…(with a cup of tea)”
“(hugging her)….Xena, thanks God you come”
“I bring you some tea…come let’s sit”
Xena and Gabrielle sat on the cosy couch…Xena studied Gabrielle and could tell she was still uncomfortable.
“here Gabrielle….(passing The tea)…it should help with the stomached”
“Thank you Xena…(deep breath)”
“Now…tell me what’s going on?”
“those dream or memories, I don’t know how to call them…but they are so vivid (crunching in her stomach)…..Ummmm….
“it’s ok relax…look (Deep breath)…I know what you feel…Gabrielle if we have something in the past will always follow us (take off a string of Gabrielle’s hair )…I don’t know who you’re, and I don’t know who I am either but I do know that I feel different with you, something keep me draw at you, and it’s something strong (deep breath), and I know you feel the same way.
“Yes…but I don’t understand”
“I wish I could but I can’t either…if we were someone else in the past those memories will back to us”
“I’m scared Xena…(hugging her)”
“Don’t be….nothing scare of sweetheart…please don’t disturb your mind thinking is stuff huh?”
Xena wrapped her arms around Gabrielle, pulling her close. She could feel Gabrielle trembling slightly, the fear and confusion almost radiating from her. Gently, Xena rubbed her back, offering whatever comfort she could.
“I’m here with you Gabrielle”
“(Hugging her sweetly)…Thank you Xena”
“Don’t thank me…why you don’t try to rest?”
“I don’t feel like restless…”
“Let’s go and eat lunch then…what do you think? ( said Xena trying to cheer her up)”
“Sounds good”
“Then get ready, I will waiting for you here”
After a few minutes Gabrielle was ready, she put on a leaf green blouse, jeans and a long brown coat, with her hair in a high ponytail, Xena looked at her sweetly, she looked so beautiful even in casual clothes, but there was something about Gabrielle that caught Xena’s attention.
“Ready?…(says Xena in a low voice)”
“(Gabrielle nodded)…yes…”
“You look beautiful…(caresses her cheek)”
“I don’t have anything exaggerated…just casual clothes”
“That’s what makes you special…(smiles sideways)”
Gabrielle’s cheeks flushed lightly as she leaned into Xena’s touch, a soft warmth spreading between them. There was something about Xena’s gaze that made her heart skip—a quiet reverence, like she was seeing every little detail Gabrielle tried to hide, and cherishing it all the same, They got out of the suite, Xena opened the door of her Tesla to Gabrielle and then began to drive, she didn’t know what kind of restaurant Gabrielle liked, Xena didn’t hesitate to ask her, As Xena navigated the busy city streets, she glanced over at Gabrielle, catching the subtle smile playing on her lips as she watched the world pass by. After a moment, Xena cleared her throat and decided to break the silence.
“So.. what kind of food do you like, Gabrielle?”
“(a warm glow in her eyes)…I’m not too picky, But I love trying new things especially flavours that tell a story.”
“(Xena’s brow arched with interest)…A story, huh?”
“Yeah…You can learn a lot about a place, even its history, through its food.”
“(Xena chuckled softly)…Alright, storyteller (she tease)…let’s find a place that’s rich in flavour, and maybe some history, too.”
They ended up in a charming, rustic Mediterranean restaurant nestled 124 7th Ave, New York, NY . The ambiance was inviting, with low, warm lighting, earthy colors, and a hint of fragrant spices that lingered in the air. As they settled into a cosy booth by the window, Gabrielle’s eyes lit up with delight.
“What about a Mediterranean Restaurant?”
“Good choice…”
“What about this one here, Terra Mediterranean?”
“have you come before here Xena?”
“No sweetheart…never, Let’s see what this is…maybe it can tell a story (chuckle softly)”
The two women entered the restaurant, it was small but very cosy, with earth tones, the atmosphere was calm, Xena ordered a Harvest salad and Gabrielle a Greek chicken Bowl and for a drink Xena ordered one of the finest sweet wines.
“Good evening ladies…What can I get for you both?” (says the waiter)
“Well for me a Harvest Salad…Gabrielle are you ready to order?”
“Yes…and for me can I get a Greek Chicken Bowl please”
“Of course ladies….and for drink?”(says the waiter)
“the best wine you have in the house”
“Do you want some dessert?(says the waiter)”
“I don’t eat sugar but Do you wan a dessert Gabrielle?”
“Let see….hmmm I will love to try Malabi Milk Pudding, it sound interesting”
“And A Malabi Milk Pudding…Got it Ladies….Anything else?”
“That’s all”
“I will bring the wine right away”
“Thank you young man (said Xena Kindly)
The waiter nodded with a polite smile and hurried off to the kitchen, leaving the two women in a peaceful silence, surrounded by the warm hum of quiet conversations and soft background music. Xena looked around the restaurant, taking in the earthy decor—walls painted in warm shades of terracotta and ochre, tables crafted from reclaimed wood, candles flickering softly on each one. It was a simple place but had an inviting warmth, Just then, the waiter returned, carefully holding a tray with two tall glasses and a delicate bottle of sweet wine. He poured for Xena first, the rich golden liquid glistening as it filled her glass. Xena raised it to her nose, inhaling the aroma with a hint of satisfaction before taking a small sip.
“Isn’t this place lovely?…It’s like it has a story in every corner.”
“You always find the story, don’t you?”
“Well, I guess I can’t help it. It’s everywhere—if you’re looking.”
“Ah, that’s wonderful….(Closing her eyes of satisfaction)….You should try Gabrielle…Here (Handle to Gabrielle the wine glass)”
“Thank you….(taste the wine)…mmmm Actually is so good”
“Excuse me Young Man”
“yes ma’am?”
“What kind of wine is this?”
“Aah…that is one of the best wines in Greece, the one you are drinking is Muscat of Rio Patras, is very rich and tasty”
‘I can tell (arguing an eyebrow)…Thank you”
