Ashes of Fate

If you, like me, felt that this was not the end, then you have come to the right place. The plot of this work takes place after the events of the 2nd part of the episode “A Friend in Need”, and will have moments of suspense, adventure, action and romance. I recommend that you be aware of this before proceeding, if you are prepared for strong emotions. We will revisit characters from the series, we will have new characters, lots of emotion, adrenaline and  moments of passion.

The following story aims to explore some lore about the previously known bound between Xena and Gabrielle through the dreamscape passage (“The Dreamworker”), as well Xena and Ares deal to bring back Gabrielle to life in “Soul Possession” and “Xena Scrolls”, building an arch that could bring back Xena after the end of the series.

She didn’t ended in elysian fields or tartarus or hell as many discussions tracks on those theories, but the facts are that According to Ares, in Soul possession, to bring back Gabrielle to life, Xena’s soul must belong to him after she die.

With that said, after japan, her soul couldn’t go back because of that deal. Besides we all know that Xena always does everything with at least a main plan we only understand and know at the end of the episode, making everything we thought that was improvised, in turth were calculated moves in a big chessboard. Why this case should be different? And it isn’t.

After the twilight of the Olympian Gods, a few of them survived, among them, Ares, Aphrodite, and… Morpheus, what opens the opportunity to Xena explore this, not as a gap, but a leverage to be charged, Morpheus had his kingdom recovered thanks to her in the Dreamworker. She could, and probably should charged Morpheus his honor debt, moving her to live into Gabrielle’s dreamscape passage.

Nonetheless, Ares as we know, could explore this opportunity too, to see if Gabrielle and Xena would succumb to his temptations, how? in the deepest lever a dreamscape passage allows, emotional vulnerability, not only thoughts and read thinking. Probably making Morpheus allows Xena to live there, but in a way that could even entertain Morpheus himself – Dreamworker reference again – because he wasn’t completely good, he allowed his order to be corrupted, and do all the proving grounds in blood innocence test with Gabrielle? So, same logic could be reasonable.

With that said, Xena would live in Gabrielle’s dreams, but with her soul divided in parts, each one representing a hidden part of hers – which ones? that’s you’ll need to discover in the story, but good news is, those who really loves, accepts the worst part of who they love, and sometimes they need to not just see, but witnesses in real time, to understand better them.
